Handshake is San José State University’s official career platform, connecting students and alumni with employers, internships, on-campus jobs, career fairs, workshops, and Career Center appointments—all in one place.

Whether you’re searching for your first campus job, applying for internships, or preparing for full-time employment after graduation, Handshake is the best place to begin your career journey.

Who can access Handshake?

Current Students

All currently enrolled SJSU students have free access to Handshake using their SJSUOne credentials.
New students: Your account will typically become available within 1 week of enrolling in classes.

Alumni

Graduates retain free Handshake access for one year after graduation. Alumni who graduated more than one year ago may continue using Handshake through a Career Center Membership.

Steps to logging in:

  1. Access SJSU Handshake
  2. Select Sign in with your email address below the SJSU Sign-on button
  3. Enter your email address and select Next
  4. Select Log in using your Handshake credentials
  5. Enter a password (or select Forgot your password? to reset it)
  6. Start your job search!

Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff can request a student Handshake to view opportunities, events, and career resources.

Tips for Success

Fill out your profile completely.

This ensures that recruiters will be able to quickly screen your qualifications. Note: work experience will be automatically placed in reverse chronological order.

Create efficient searches.

Job postings are targeted to groups of related majors, so search for jobs under major groups that commonly fit in your interested career fields. You can also select Match All Employer Preferences to narrow down positions for which you are most qualified.

Customize your News Feed for relevant opportunities.

Follow specific companies by selecting Jobs on the top menu and then Employers. Select your search criteria, select your desired employer, and select Favorite Employer at the top.
